Residential Financial Services, Inc., (RFS), was founded in April of 1993 as a real estate and mortgage brokerage firm by James McDonough, Jr. and his son James McDonough, III. At the time, James McDonough, Jr. was in the process of retiring as the head of PNC Mortgage Services and his son was President of J-Mac Real Estate Services, Inc. a local homebuilder and land developer in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. James McDonough, Jr. was also the founder and former President of Ryan Financial Services, Inc., the financing arm of Ryan Homes, and the former Chief Executive Officer of First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Pittsburgh.
